The Comitato Leonardo intends to operate through events that promote and enhance the image of Italy as a national system,
with the aim of applauding all that is made in Italy, with high quality goods leading the way. To promote Italy as a
Country System, it is essential to highlight the entrepreneurial , creative, artistic, refined , cultured talents
reflected in its products and in its style of life.
With this aim the Comitato has instituted a Leonardo Award to be given annually to the Italian or foreign person who
best represented the image of Italy world-wide, and three Leonardo Italian Quality Awards to be awarded to three
entrepreneurs that have been very successful in International markets.
The winners have been defined by the Head of State as "ambassadors of the Italian Image around the world" for their valuable
international role and for the results they have achieved in being testimonials of Italian excellence at work.
The Comitato promotes:
1. Cultural events such as Seminars, conferences, and fairs that will illustrate single aspects of Italian creativity and that
which is "made in Italy";
2. Exhibitions and other high level events;
3. International networking to introduce the foreign business person to the wealth of possibilities the Italian system has to
offer.
Among the events, the Comitato celebrates youth by way of a scholarship to be awarded to the student's thesis or study that
has highlighted the value of Italy's image around the world in terms of innovation and design.
In 1997, for the first time, two scholarships were granted to graduate students by the Biagiotti-Cigna Foundation during the
award ceremony held at the Quirinale.
In 1998 a thesis on the globalisation of a company within an industrial cluster was awarded.
