A composer and conductor, the fervent and sensitive spirit behind the most representative musical culture of our time, Ennio Morricone is an ambassador of Italian artistic excellence around the world. During his career he’s grappled with all the specialisations of musical composition, first as an orchestrator and conductor in the recording industry, and later as a composer for theatre, radio, television and cinema. He’s conducted some of the world’s leading orchestras, including the Orchestra of the Academy of Santa Cecilia, the La Scala Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra and the Spanish National Orchestra. In awarding him the Lifetime Achievement Prize, the Leonardo Committee recognises the vital contribution Maestro Ennio Morricone has made to spreading Italian creative genius, thanks to his prestigious career as a composer and conductor.
